Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the LightBox desktop application for macOS and the website at lightboxfilm.app (collectively, the "Service") provided by LightBox ("we", "our", or "us"). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms.

1. License Grant

LightBox grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the LightBox application on your personal devices, subject to the terms of your license type:

7-Day Trial: A free, time-limited license granting full access to all features for 7 days from the date of activation. The trial is limited to 1 device activation. No credit card is required.
Lifetime License: A perpetual license granting full access to all features with no expiration date. Includes all future updates at no additional cost. May be activated on up to 3 devices simultaneously.

2. Permitted Use

You may use LightBox for personal or commercial photography work. You may not:

Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the application
Redistribute, sublicense, or resell the application or your license key
Share your license key with others or use it on more devices than your license permits
Attempt to circumvent or disable the license activation system

3. Your Content

LightBox processes your photos entirely on your local machine. We do not upload, access, or store any of your images. You retain all rights to your photos and any output produced by the application.

4. Payments and Refunds

All payments are processed securely through Stripe. Prices are listed in USD and are inclusive of all applicable fees.

Since we offer a full-featured 7-day trial with no credit card required, we are unable to offer refunds on lifetime license purchases. We encourage you to try the trial first to ensure LightBox meets your needs.

5. License Activation and Deactivation

Your license key may be activated through the LightBox application. If you need to transfer your license to a new device, you can simply download LightBox on the new device and enter the same license key as your previous device.

We reserve the right to deactivate licenses that are found to be shared or used in violation of these Terms.

6. Updates

Lifetime license holders are entitled to all future updates to LightBox at no additional cost. Updates may include new features, bug fixes, and compatibility improvements. We may release updates at our discretion and are not obligated to maintain any specific update schedule.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

LightBox is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the application will be error-free, uninterrupted, or compatible with all hardware or software configurations. We make no guarantees regarding the accuracy of color conversion results, as outcomes depend on the quality and characteristics of your source scans.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, LightBox shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of data or profits, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim related to the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid for your license.

9. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your license if you violate these Terms. Upon termination, your right to use the application ceases immediately. Any photos you have already exported remain yours.

10. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Your continued use of LightBox after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
